Chiang Mai is the second largest city in Thailand, the largest is Bangkok. It is full of good food, beautiful crafts and friendly people. The time seems to go really slow there. 3 days 2 nights is not enough to enjoy it all, when we are beginning to sink into the local's life, it's time to say good bye.
City life
The lifes of the locals there seems laid back & happy compare to us coming from a busy city like Singapore. It's really someting to do with the difference in our lifestyle, they are so much simpler and relax, everything goes in a relax pace unlike in Singapore, everything gotta be fast and instant.
If you like to still be in a city with the daily things you need but would like to relax, I think it's a good place to be in.
At least during the short stay there, I've experienced nice people there, although there are always the bad apples within the good ones, it's still fine. The people there are mainly very friendly, they smile a lot and they are very willing to help even when there's a langguage barrier.
I find the food there pretty good too, maybe because it is pretty close to the chinese cooking since it's pretty close to China. They are in small serving and there are plenty of choices, so during a meal, you could try a lot of different dish out. They are pretty inexpensive too.
Saying good bye
Just during the 3rd day when I'm getting used to the wais, sawadeekas, khorp khun kas.... We have to leave the city and go back to our busy lifes in Singapore.
It's hard to say good bye but I will never forget the experience I had there. I may be back maybe in many many years. :) |
